Undercounter Dishwashers

Undercounter dishwashers are compact, space-saving units that are a practical addition to nearly any foodservice operation across Canada. They’re designed to fit beneath standard countertops, making them ideal for tight kitchen layouts. When shopping for one, the first major decision is choosing between a high temperature and a low temperature model.

Low temperature dishwashers are generally more affordable and use chemical sanitizers to clean, as they rinse at lower temperatures. High temperature models, on the other hand, rinse at around 180º to 195º Fahrenheit, providing a more powerful clean with heat-based sanitization. While they come at a slightly higher cost, they often eliminate the need for chemical additives.

Most undercounter dishwashers come with a single rack, typically holding around 18 plates or 36 glasses per cycle. When comparing models, pay attention to how many racks are included, the rack type, and the rack dimensions - all of which will impact capacity. It's also important to check the opening height to ensure your tallest dishware will fit inside.

To gauge capacity needs, a helpful rule of thumb is that approximately 35 racks are needed for every 100 meals served. Make sure the dishwasher you choose can handle your estimated volume per hour.

Although these machines are designed to slide under most standard counters, be sure to check the full unit dimensions, including how far the door swings open. If you prefer not to install it under a counter, stainless steel stands are available to raise the unit by about 12", improving access and ergonomics.
